I passed my comps, all four on the first attempt. Apparently I’m only the 4th person ever in our department to accomplish that, and the first American. I’m not sure if that says more about me or the other Ph.D. students in the department. Whatever. I’m just happy to be done with them.

It’s been at least three years since I’ve actually seen my chin. I tossed a few pictures up.

I’ve been taking my comprehensive exams lately. I took two last week, and one today. My last one will be Wednesday. I feel pretty confident about them. I was expecting them to be really bad, but honestly, they haven’t been. Of course, I might find out in two weeks that I failed them all, but hopefully not. I’ll let you know.

And you know how everyone thinks it’s completely retarded? It’s apparently 18 because that was Archie Manning’s jersey number.

Am I the only one who thinks that it’s silly, and maybe a bit embarassing, that so much of our University revolves around one family of athletes, only two of which even attended Ole Miss?

I’m not enrolled yet because of a stupid financial aid hold, but I should be enrolled very soon. It looks like I’ll be taking Parallel Programming and Functional Programming, both on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

I’m actually sitting in class right now, and we’re starting momentarily. Wish me luck or whatever.
